Providing mobile and internet services in rural areas in the UK has proved difficult. Conventional solutions do not provide an adequate service, are visually unacceptable for sensitive landscapes, and, crucially, are not economically viable on a per-premises basis.
Telet Research use the latest developments in radio and network technology to solve these problems and dramatically reduce the cost per premises of providing providing high speed mobile and fixed data and voice connections: 2G/4G cellular, WiFi, and Internet of Things. Telet use a mesh of low power Software Defined Radio small cells mounted on customers’ premises, linked to a community hub which in turn links to a network core implemented in software on inexpensive generic hardware.
The feasibility study will further optimise the technology, and will refine the commercial model through discussions with potential suppliers, partners, customers, and government bodies.
